56% of Poles in favour of admitting Ukraine war refugees: survey

Fifty-six percent of Poles are in favour of accepting refugees from war-torn Ukraine, according to a new survey, a drop of 5 percentage points from the previous such study a month earlier.

Meanwhile, 81 percent of respondents believe that Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine poses a direct threat to Poland’s security, down from 83 percent in March, the study by pollster CBOS found.

The survey was carried out between April 8 and 18 on a sample of 1,079 respondents, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The study also revealed that 59 percent of Poles are concerned about the possibility of Russia launching a military attack on NATO countries in the next three to eight years.

In contrast, 32 percent of respondents believe that such a scenario is improbable, the PAP news agency reported.
